Dressing for newborn photo sessions

You booked your newborn session, and the day is coming near.

What should you wear? What should you do to prepare?

Keep it simple and classic-

I will always suggest neutral tones for all parties involved. They look amazing in most newborn sets. The first thing you notice in your photos, should be the love and connection rather than a huge color pop.

For Parents:

Solid colors work best as they don't distract from the newborn. Avoid large logos or busy patterns that can draw attention away from the baby. Choose soft, comfortable fabrics that allow you to move freely and comfortably. Neutral tones like cream, beige, light gray, or pastels are timeless and complement a newborn's delicate features.

For Siblings:

Coordinate but avoid overly matching outfits. A cohesive color scheme works well. Consider layering with cardigans, vests, or accessories for added interest. Choose clothes that reflect the child's personality while still being comfortable for them. Avoid clothes with characters or logos that might distract from the family's overall look.

For the Newborn:

Keep it simple and comfortable. Soft, neutral-colored onesies or swaddles are perfect.

For the session, make sure the clothing is a simple easy to remove for outfit changes.

Consider accessories like headbands, hats, or wraps that add a touch of sweetness without overwhelming the baby. (We will bring a few options but you can use your own) Keep in mind the temperature of the photo session location and dress the baby accordingly.

General Tips:

Iron or steam clothes beforehand if you want to ensure they look neat and polished. Coordinate colors without being too matchy-matchy. Remember, the goal is to create a cohesive and timeless look that highlights the love and connection within the family while keeping the focus on the precious newborn.
